Notable Events

Earthquakes larger than M3 since mid-2010 are shown, with size proportional to magnitude and color indicating depth.

Please note. The feature is still under development. We are in the process of migrating our back catalog, which we hope to complete shortly. Events shown are only from 2011. For a complete list of older events please visit our legacy site.

The sizes of symbols scale with earthquake magnitude, and their color with the depth of the earthquake, as shown in the legend below.  Clicking on an earthquake symbol shows its basic details and a link to a page with more details about the individual earthquake. Probable surface explosions (usually due to quarrying or road building) are shown as stars.
