Format description of PNSN Station lists

The following gives the format code, the format and an example of each station list format included:

The entries in each column do not have to be lined up in any way.
Any number of spaces may be used to separate the values
in each column. However, each parameter must have a value,
ie a blank value is not permissable. The first nine columns have specific
values. They may be followed by one or more words used as comments.

STA - Station name
Lat - Latitude, decimal, (N is positive)
Lon - Longitude, decimal, (E is positive)
Elev - Elev in km above sea level or above ellipsoid (not yet standardized
).
             Use 9.999 if unknown.
DA - Horizontal datum. 84 means WGS84, UN means unknown, 27 means NAD27.
WGS84 is the new standard. Use coordinates in this datum when
             they are known.
NT - Station network, normally two characters. For example UW HW, US,
TA. Use underscore "_" if unknown.
F - Funding agency, eg %, H, #, E. Use "_" if unknown
startday- station install date in format YYYYMMDD (use 00000000 for unknown)
endday - station end date in format YYYYMMDD. (use 00000000 for unknown,
and 99999999 to indicate that the station is currently running)
.
Comment - The first two characters of the comment cards are the state where
the station is located, followed by one or more words to describe the
station components, station name, etc.

Funding codes:
	% = USGS
	+ = PNNL
	# = maintained by CVO
[A-Z] = data received by PNSN; station operated by another network)

Originating network codes: CN = Canadian - Pacific Geoscience Center MB = Montana Bureau of Mines NC = Northern California UO = University of Oregon (PNSN Partner) US = US National Network UW = PNSN

Geographic datum for stations: NAD27

Equipment operated: No code designates Short period vertical SMO means a strong-motion instrument is currently at the site BB means a broad-band instrument is currently at the site CREST indicates a station with both broad-band and strong-motion instruments
